Discussion

During our discussion Courtney and i spoke about our timing as to when we were going to shot our thriller. It occurred to us that we were both otherwise engaged during the day until late and so we decided to set it early in the morning to imply a heightened sense of tension.

Our ideas for location

Courtney and I discussed what we thought would be a 'fitting' location. Because both Courtney and myself cannot travel we had to decide on somewhere that is within walking distance for both of us. Finally we settled on Wood Lane in Northorpe.

We chose to film our thriller opening down Wood Lane in Northorpe. We chose this as our location as it is quite a deserted location that being that there are no houses and the road is only surrounded by feilds. This will emphasise abandonment. The fact that the street is abandoned will create an eerie atmosphere which is a common convention in thriller openings as they set the scene for the rest of the movie. A thriller opening should create a sence of fear and tension and we feel that setting our thriller opening down an abandoned road will create that.

 

 

 

 

Pitch ideas

Courtney and i created this pitch to present to our class group. We only had basic ideas of what our thriller opening will contain. Although we have now decided not to use one of these ideas, but we have taken some points and incorporated it with our new idea.

Film Noir

I created this mood board to show the key characteristics of Film-Noir and the things that have inspired the works of Film-Noir. I have found that Film-Noir is highly inspired by the works of German expressionist films, and almost all Film-Noir films contain the characteristics such as Mirrors, Shadows, Archways, Windows, Sharp Angles, Smoke, Rain on the Roads, and Faces Half in Shadow. These key characteristics make the Film-Noir films highly effective and more appealing to a wider audience.

Thriller Questionnaire

This is evidence that I created a questionnaire. I created this questionnaire to allow a clearer view of what my target audience look for when deciding to watch a thriller or not. The information collected from this questionnaire will allow me to make my thriller opening as appealing as phyisically possible and attract the audience that i hope for.
